Can’t believe we are at the end of August, summer sure flew by!
I’ve been a tad absent from social media this week, just trying to take in as much of the last week of summer with my kiddos as I can. For next week school starts. Wahoo??? Yes, mostly WAHOO! I love having some down time but a schedule does truly suit me better.
For the last few weeks I have been excited to get going on Fall Fashion, my favorite season for clothing. But I am holding out as much as I can. Skinny jeans paired with a summer weight, embroidered tunic I bought a couple of years ago in Scottsdale, AZ. I love this piece. It’s kind of a statement but certainly not trendy. Something I will keep in my wardrobe long term because I love it. The skinnies are a Seattle mainstay and my shoes were an awesome purchase at Mario’s years ago. And when I say years, I mean YEARS. In these instances, it is worth spending more because none of these items are in and out within a season but instead, long term staples. What wardrobe pieces have you spent more money on and are glad you did?
Have a fabulous Labor Day weekend and here’s hoping we get sunshine the entire time!!!

I think this has to be one of the most casual Friday Fashion’s I have ever posted. One but not THE one, they are always casual when I am working, need to be comfortable and need to wear things that can get dirty. Did I mention that last weekend, my shoe broke 10 mins into the job and I was barefoot on cement floors for 10 hours. Yep. Glamor for sure!
Also, the first time in along time I have worn jeans. The temps did a dip today.
Just something other than Lulu’s….
The project I was working on today is sorting through my styling closet and making a pile of goods that have been photographed and I can’t use again or weren’t used. I will be posting these on the Kim Brooks Style FB page to sell at steal prices. Watch for that over the next few days.
Have a great weekend, hope we all see some sunshine!

I created this little collection 6 months ago but it is very relevant as we start easing into fall. The layers start happening and the boots creep out of the shoe closet. Spending money on one (or two) great pair of black pants can cover you for all occassions.
Getting the looks:
A bit of a change up today. Knowing I had a ton of about town to do today for a large shoot I have Sunday, I put on my favorite maxi skirt from KrisandKate.com, a black top from Bliss, and my Jeffery Campbell Sandals. Comfy, presentable for running in and out of shops, and cool enough for the temps.
And then, I spy with my little eye….
Something I just had to have. A vintage jumpsuit. Love!
Although the fabric is heavy and I may need to tweak the size just a tad, I had to put this beauty on and share!
Although going to the mall is great, there is something about scouring the vintage racks for old school goodness.
Are you a vintage vixen?
Last week, while with a client, she was telling me about the great denim jacket she picked up but was still a little uncertain as how to wear it. I reminded her of how truly versatile they were and that although they can’t replace a blazer in a more formal workplace, they make the perfect little, everyday jacket for everything from shorts, to skirts, to dresses.
This past week I was on a casual beach vacation and although it took place over a wedding, everything (including fashion) was pretty laid back. My $30 Forever 21 jean jacket became the staple piece in my getaway wardrobe, whether on, over my shoulders, or hanging on the back of my chair “just in case”. I thought I would share some real life how to styling for your denim jacket. Minus one look, I did not include the accessories. Keeping it simple.
Travel Day with super early departure: Comfy linen blend Pants (Zara /similar), Graphic Tank (TJ Maxx / similar). I actually wore this with my black JCrew flipflops but the Jeffery Campbells are standing in.
Outdoor Dinner at a Winery: Dress (Old Navy)
Outdoor Garden Wedding: Dress (BB Dakota / similar)
What do you wear your denim jacket with?
Happy Weekend! I feel like Friday was yesterday due to some out of town guests in celebration mode and the mini’s starting a little getaway a day early avec les grands-parents The house is empty today, it’s a chance for me to get the getting-done, done. So quiet. It’s weird.
After lots of casual tees and shorts lately, the last two days have been a tad dressier. Yesterday a black Rachel Roy spaghetti strapped jumpsuit, today more black. But it’s super lightweight, cool and comfortable. During the day, I had on my flat, silver sandals and for evening, I switched to the wedge.
There has been a lot of “OneDirection” chat in our household of late. My necklace is kind of in secret protest. I will be multi-directional!!!!
Speaking of which, I am hitting the road tomorrow for another getaway. I hope you have something fun in the sun planned for this weekend as well!
Have a good one!

This Fall in Fashion! As you may have guessed, I am REALLY excited about it. Although it comes in all colors and there is a style for everyone, I just put a little collage together that is sparking my spark! For the non black leather ladies, I will do some future leather posts with some variation. And perhaps some Seattle’ish leather for the guys.
Holy Moly Spanoli!
Where did the sun go? I can’t believe I am wearing booties with socks AND a cardi. But it is happening. And my allergies? Ugh. Is the same happening to you? Okay enough complaining. I added some brightness to my day with some coral pants but of course made them mine by adding some black. Not full on but just a little. Heading on a road trip and hoping we will find the sunshine along the way.
Making it quick today as some people I know want to get the show on the road. What are you up to this weekend?
Hope it is a good one!
