Friday Fashion – 10.26.12

So, you probably know by now that I am the Queen of mixing high and low.  There are certain apparel items that I truly believe one should buy the best that they can, and then everything else can just be fun.  I’m mentioning that now because today while wearing my red skinnies, I bumped into a gal in a warehouse shopping environment with a similar black and red outfit and her jeans looked identical.  When I said “twinsies”, she asked if my pants were Joes Jeans too.  I politely said no.  Hers retail for $158, mine $68.  Score!!!

Totally bag it!

Today, I had the privilege of meeting Jessica Park, founder and designer of Ampersand As Apostrophe, in her Ballard studio.  If you have yet to hear about Jessica and her brand, it’s just a matter of minutes before her name is EVERYWHERE.  An architect by education, she built a successful career  using her double talent of architecture and interior design to create retail spaces and came about her new career quite by accident.  It involved a flea market, some 100 year old European Mailbags, and some creative vision.  3 years later, Jessica has shown at NY Fashion Week and from what I saw today, well on her way.

The Mailbag that started it all...

Somebody had to try out the Buffalo Parcel...

Miss Lady doing her thing.

The Utility Pouch.

Not only are Jessica’s bags gorgeous, but her architectural background truly rears its pretty, little head.  Keeping in mind, functionality, each piece can do so much.  For the Buffalo Parcel, Jessica has come up with 42 different ways to wear it.  That wasn’t a typo, 42 I tell ya!  And the bags come with a metal chain, and two straps so you can play with your new statement as much as she has.

So, bag lovers everywhere, you know what you need to do.

Women’s Conference – Four Seasons Hotel, Seattle, WA. 7.19.12

Kim  did a Women’s Conference for us and added a “fun” element to our professional agenda.  She customized our session to our specific group and developed terrific, creative solutions for how to dress for different business situations.  Her ideas were innovative – things we didn’t think of putting together or combining and the session was a hit.

Friday Fashion 10.12.12

Good morning!  Another Friday, another fashion.  Just so you know, I so don’t like having my picture taken.  I look at people all day long, take pics of people in outfits (models, clients, strangers) but when the camera is turned on me, ugh!  Do any of you feel that way?  K. Just had to put that out there.  Today I am running around like a banshee.  Model fitting, pick ups, delivery’s, etc. so dressed for all of that.  Happy Weekend!

One trend, three ways…..

Just like my summer post “Age is but a number”, http://pinkpagodastyle.com/?p=1179, I went back to Bliss and Dream in Fremont to do round 2.  This time, the focus was on colored denim and although we did have an age 20-something, an age 30-something, and yes, a 40-something, it was more about the options for wearing them, not just an age thing.

The staple piece this time was the Flying Monkey Skinny Pant in Eggplant, $68.  We went for a casual, youthful look for Shayna with a cropped top and funky shoes.

Along with her skinnies, Shayna is wearing the Leopard Virtue Flat, $80, the ridiculously soft, Coccoon Dolman $48, and earrings by Phillipe.

With Jenny, we went with a more covered but still casual look.  As an alternative to the tunic top, we could easily substitute a cute blouse and jacket.

Jenny’s skinnies are paired with a basic cami in gray $8, the V-neck Sheer Tunic Sweater for $68,  (you should see the detail in the back as well, very cute!), the Riding Boot in black $78, and the Phillipe Large Kite Earrings $35.

And of course, somebody had to dress up, so I took that role.

Along with the skinnies, I am wearing the Open One Shoulder Blouse, on sale for $28.88, the Phillipe Chain Swag Earring $65, the Point Pumps in gold $48, and I’m carrying the Stud Clutch $58.  Ring is my own.

Fun day once again.  3 girls, John T, clothes and a camera always equals giggles and goodness!  All items seen here (unless noted) are currently available in the Bliss, Dream and FinchandSparrow.com stores.
